Green Green Green
So, It's two days before I leave New York for a month or two. I have just finished getting ALL my crapola into storage. It is a beautiful day the day before I graduate. Why not go into Yarntopia, since I'm going right by it. I'll just look at a few patterns, thats all. If I buy anything, it will just be for some yarn I have in my summer stash that isn't packed away. It's harmless....right?

This will become a Branching Out (which I tried to do with MMMMMMalabrigo in a blue shade and just wasn't feeling it at the time.) With the Rowan Kidsilk Haze (an you imagine it's my first ball of the stuff?!) acting as a crocheted scalloped border/knit ruffle border.
So much for that will power I thought I had....any thoughts?

Calorimetry II: Study in Pink
I had extra yarn from the Elephant Hat and so here is what resulted!!! I used one size smaller needles than the blue one just to make sure I had enough yarn. It was just BAIRLY enough, but I made it. I seriously had to search for a small section of the yarn that I luckily cut out while making the Hat o' Elephants. (it was a darker red tone section and I wanted to keep the elephants as pink as possible...) I went down to The Yarn Co. to find the perfect buttons, so here is the finished blue one as well. I had seen these robot buttons for a year and hadn't yet had a use for them. (still haven't attempted my first sweater....) I think they would look really cute on a purse as well. So, here ya are!!

Beads for Hanami
So I FINALLY took my gays (my best friends...they're my gays. I'm their hag. We love each other to death) and went on the search for the perfect beads to accompany the yummy silk. We went to Bruce Frank Beads, a great little store with EVERYTHING on 83rd between B'way and Amsterdam. We started small...really small. Tiny. and pale blue. I realized I was able to go much larger on the beads than anticipated! (Especially with what I read from others who had made it and said that the beads got swallowed up and weren't as noticeable. We started looking at blues and greens, thinking that would bring the most contrast. But none of them quite worked. Then we looked at pinks and red tones and I found this tube of pinks that was a mix of about seven different beads together. It was quite pretty but made the yarn and it all look a little cheap. Then we found the last color I would have thought of (among the pastels) Lavender! For some reason, it provided the most contrast and looked very elegant! So, here we are! I'm all set. I just need to finish Icarus so I can use the needles. What do you think, guys??!!

Calorimetry I: Study in Blue
So, I was going a little crazy with finals and all. (I graduate a week from today!!) So, i thought I'd do a quick little project. Here she is! Calorimetry! I have some left over pink yarn from my elephant hat, so I thought I'd make a Calorimetry with it, but I wasn't sure if I had enough yarn, so I bought another ball of it in Peacock and made it. I think I'll have enough to crank out a pink one!
(Thanks again, Knitty City!)

I started it on Wednesday night and finished it yesterday. It was so much fun. I can't wait to find a button for it. (I have one in mind I saw at my LYS)
